Mixmag Presents Fergie: Let There Be Hard House

Times flys, I first mixed this CD cover mount for @mixmagmagazine The best part of 20 years ago LET THERE BE HARD HOUSE, Remixed & Remastered, Still banging 💣🎶💣 It was music for the people!

The standard dance music tale of the year 2000 tends to focus on superstar DJs and superclubs: Fatboy at Manumission, Paul van Dyk and Seb Fontaine at Cream, hugely overreaching Millennium night raves that left thousands stranded at empty venues,Toca’s Miracle and Chicane featuring Bryan Adams. At street level though, clubs like Sundissential, Passion and Trade were pushing a sound that was harder, faster and more balls out boshing than anything you’d hear Pete Tong play on the radio. This was peak hard house, and Fergie was its king. At a time when he was snorting powdered Red Bull to keep up with the most punishing schedule (and records) in DJing, Ferg’s March 2000 ‘journey into Bangingland’ cover mix showcased the sound that was thrashing dancefloors from Coalville to Clerkenwell. Fergie takes in the masters of the hard house scene from BK to Knuckleheadz… Forget today’s tropical house and endless UK garage revivals – 16 years ago the world was harder, faster and more banging than anything before or since. as Fergie would say, happy days.

Fergie DJ – Perfect Night.

Fergie DJ presents “Perfect Night”, the first release to drop on his new “We are ARCADIA” label which he launches as an extension to his “Arcadia” show at the Hakkasan Nightclub in Las Vegas and his “Arcadia On Air” weekly radio show. The powerfully emotive original and Arcadia mixes are joined by two outstanding remixes from D.O.D and Jeff Retro.

“Perfect Night” is a feel-good rocket dedicated to the party and all that goes with it. The original mix is full of positive summer vibes perfect for the outdoor madness and lyrics such as “my friends, we can dream tonight, we can follow the lights and leave it all behind” are sure to bring the dance-floor together before the almighty drop. Fergie DJ also supplies his Arcadia mix with added RAVE factor, for when that extra bit of chaos is absolutely necessary for the Arcadia people in the club.

The Remixes
Fresh from his recent killer collaboration with Laidback Luke on “Flashing Lights” is D.O.D, a genuinely impressive talent from the UK. If evidence is required check out a stream of killer releases on esteemed labels such as Mixmash Records and Dim Mark Records. His remix flips the original on it’s head and aims straight for the jugular, designed to make your brain rearrange. Las Vegas based Jeff Retro completes the release, his rework takes the original on a deeper trip, full of charm and atmosphere. Warm house grooves carry the original vocal along to a stunning conclusion.

Fergie DJ
After countless years in the DJ booth Fergie DJ remains at the top of his game, taking his DJ sets around the world to an ever-growing fan base. In the country he now calls home, his residencies at Hakkasan, Wet Republic (Las Vegas) and HQ (Atlantic City) continue to go from strength to strength. This year he launched his weekly radio show “Arcadia On Air”, broadcast in over 20 countries across the globe and downloadable as a podcast, proving that musically he’s as vibrant as ever.
